The Medal of Achievement for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps was established in 1961. He was awarded to privates and non-commissioned officers, as well as junior officers of the Navy and Marine Corps of the US Armed Forces for military achievements during service, both in combat and in a peaceful environment.
Fasteners for valor in the form of the Latin letter V ("Valor" - valor) could be relied on to the medal. When re-awarding a medal, a fastener in the form of a golden star relied on the ribbon (double awarding - one star, triple - two stars, quadruple awarding - three stars, five-time awarding - four stars, with six-fold awarding - one silver star).
In addition to the standard versions of the award, there were also miniature tailcoat versions of the medal, as well as the bar of awards.
The medal was worn on the left side of the uniform with the help of a fastening pin.
Dimensions of the medal, including the fastening eyelet: 43 x 35 mm. The thickness of the edge is 2 mm. The width of the tape is 35 mm.

Медаль «За достижения» для ВМС и Корпуса Морской пехоты Вооруженных Сил США была учреждена в 1961 году. Награждался рядовой и унтер-офицерский состав, а также младшие офицеры ВМФ и Корпуса Морской пехоты Вооруженных Сил США за проявленные военные достижения во время службы, как в боевой, так и в мирной обстановке.
К медали могли полагаться пристежки за доблесть в виде латинской буквы V («Valor» – доблесть). При повторном награждении медалью на ленту полагалась пристежка в виде золотистой звезды (двойное награждение – одна звезда, тройное — две звезды, четырехкратное награждение — три звезды, пятикратное награждение — четыре звезды, при шестикратном награждение — одна серебристая звезда).
Кроме стандартных версий награды, существовали и миниатюрные фрачные версии медали, а также и планки наград.
Медаль носилась с левой стороны униформы с помощью крепежной булавки.
