Medieval Gothic is a bright period in European art and in the art of Catalonia in particular. The National Museum of Art of Catalonia has two rooms where works created in the artistic style that replaced Romanesque art are displayed. In the first hall, mainly secular works are presented, in the second hall you can see works of religious themes, for example, sculptures by Joan de Tournai or Pere Morages, which influenced the Gothic art of Catalonia.
Among the Catalan artists, it is worth noting Jaume Huguet, Luis Dalmau, Bernat Martorell, whose works were created between the XIII and XV centuries. During this period, the sculpture of Catalonia was strongly influenced by the art of Italy, and the influence of the French Gothic style did not weaken. The exhibition includes altars, statues, paintings, individual decorative elements and much more.
