In 1030, Chanzitta, the third king of the medieval Buddhist state of Pagan, which was located on the territory of modern Myanmar, was born. At first, Chanzitta became famous as the leader of one of the Burmese tribes, and also opposed the rebellious Mon people – the enemy captured and killed King Sola.

Since Pagan was left without a leader, it was decided to choose a new king, which became Chanzitta. The courtiers could not find the connection of the Chanzitta family with the previous dynasty of rulers and compiled a new genealogy for him. The king won a victory over the Monas and began to strengthen and expand the state: after defeating the Arakans and the Shans, he managed to reach China. Some of Chanzitta's decisions caused surprise among the inhabitants of the Pagan Kingdom, in particular, the recognition and support of the Mon aristocracy. Monas began to occupy key positions, their language became widespread: official documents and dedications were made in it. As a result, almost the entire Pagan began to experience the influence of the Mon culture.

During the reign of Chanzitta, the Pagan kingdom reached its maximum flourishing in history. Roads, canals, reservoirs, and temples were built all over the country. The capital began to grow rapidly, the city went beyond the walls. A new palace was built for the king, and a statue was erected in the Ananda temple in his honor, which has survived to this day. Chanzitta and his successes were well known in other states, because the king supported his neighbors, and also took care of refugees, who at that time often suffered persecution due to religious differences. Chanzitta died in 1112/1113 after a long illness. His grandson Situ, known as Alaungsitu, took the throne after his grandfather's death.
