Among the ruins of Deultum, an ancient city founded during the Roman Empire on the territory of modern Bulgaria, a gold chain decorated with three beads was discovered. The decoration is damaged and, perhaps, there were many more beads on it earlier. The necklace was lying in the hall of the public bath. This is not the first valuable artifact found in this place. Last year, researchers came across an earring of the II century. Small beads imitating pearls were also attached to the earring.
Both finds are proof of the wealth of the city, strong trade ties that connected Deultum with other regions of the Roman Empire. The women who lived in these places wore the same accessories as the inhabitants of Rome. Deultum was founded in the first century AD, and in the 370s its decline began. For the first time, the study of the ruins began in the XIX century, large-scale excavations started in the 1980s, when the construction of a large metallurgical plant began nearby.
