This week, a new museum will be opened in Chernivtsi, where an exposition of Ukrainian embroidery will be exhibited. The organizers are creating an original project in which the Ukrainian embroidered shirt will be presented as a work of art and an artifact that has taken a special place in Ukrainian culture as a national and spiritual symbol. The museum will use modern technologies to ensure interactivity, constant communication with visitors; it is planned to attract scientists and masters, researchers in the field of ethnography to create joint projects.
In 2006, the International Embroidery Day was celebrated for the first time, which is celebrated annually on the third Thursday of May. In 2011, this day was timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the holiday – then more than 4 thousand people in embroidered shirts gathered on one of the squares of Chernivtsi, thus setting a record recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
