Badge of the II Artillery Battalion of the UPR army sold at Violiti for 100,000 hryvnias

Coins, stamps, paintings related to the history of Ukraine remind of the past of our country. But a special place among such items is occupied by military relics. We are talking about the banner of the period of the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people at the beginning of the 20th century - sign of the II Artillery Battalion of the UNR Army. Military relic, which was sold on the Violiti website for 100 thousand UAH.

The artifact refers to the time of the restoration of the Ukrainian People's Republic after the fall of the Hetmanate, that is, the period from the end of 1918 to the end of 1920. In mid-December 1918, the troops of the Directory entered the territory of Kyiv. Power was again in the hands of the socialist leaders of the UNR. The Directory canceled all laws and orders issued under the Hetmanate.

As of the end of 1918, the troops of the Directorate of the UNR consisted of a separate detachment of the Sich Riflemen, the Zaporozhye Corps, separate units of the Gray and Serdyuk divisions, and rebel detachments. The numerical strength was about 100 thousand people.

Artillery was the best formation of the Ukrainian army. The number of artillery parks exceeded 1,500 guns of various types. One of the main guns is the divisional guns of the 1902 model. Good training and experience of the personnel, sufficient supply of weapons contributed to successful military operations.
