There is strength in unity: the National Bank started issuing a series of new commemorative coins
The National Bank of Ukraine announced the completion of voting on sketches and creative works for numismatic products dedicated to Ukraine's struggle against Russian aggression. Work has already begun on the creation of the first commemorative coin from the corresponding series.
According to the results of the popular vote, the sketches of Alina Malyuta, Vitaly Shevarev, Marina Kuts, Miroslav Grich and Maria Padii received the most votes. Aleksey Shekshuev, Andrey Ermolenko and Katerina Prodaivoda won in the Best Creative Work nomination.
After studying the results of the popular vote, the NBU began to create the first commemorative coin from the series, which is dedicated to the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to the Russian invaders. The numismatic novelty will be called “In unity is strength” and will reflect the national unity of Ukrainians in the face of the enemy, as well as international support from the whole world.
It is assumed that motifs from the sketch of the winner of the vote, Alina Malyuta, will be displayed on one side of the coin. On the other side are elements from the sketch of contestant Sergei Topkin "Help from Partner Countries".
According to the sketch by Alina Malyutina, the obverse of the coin should be decorated with the small State Emblem of Ukraine, surrounded by people holding hands with a blue and yellow ribbon. On the reverse there is also a small State Emblem, the inscription "Ukraine" and the year of issue - 2022.
It is assumed that other sketches and creative works will also be involved in the creation of numismatic products. However, the NBU will inform about this later.
Recall that the voting, in which almost 3 thousand citizens took part, took place from April 5 to April 20, 2022. 80 works were presented from 35 participants. Among the contestants were authors from both Ukraine and other countries. The youngest artists who sent their works to the competition were from 10 to 14 years old.
