For many years the Eurovision Song Contest has been one of the main musical events in the world. Over 600 million viewers follow the broadcast of the show. Performers from all over the world are doing their best to adequately demonstrate their talent and bring victory to their country. Even just participating in Eurovision is considered a great achievement. The history of our country at the international competition began in 2003.

Alexander Ponomarev became the first Ukrainian representative. The song "Hasta la Vista, Baby" scored 30 points and took the 14th position.

Ukraine received gold the next year in Turkey. At 280 points, the audience rated the dance track "Wild Dances" from Ruslana. The song remained a hit all over the world for many years.

In 2005, the Greenjols fought for Ukraine in Kyiv. The song "Together we are rich" took 19th place in the music rating.

Tina Karol performed well for Ukraine at Eurovision 2006 in Greece. The singer got the opportunity to participate in the international competition on the basis of winning the national selection. Karol's performance was estimated at 145 points, which allowed Ukraine to take an honorable seventh place.

Very few points were not enough for the song "Dancing Lasha Tumbai" performed by Verka Serdyuchka (Andrey Danilko) in 2007 to take first place.

May 24, 2008, performing the hit "Shady Lady", Ani Lorak brought the country second place. The gap from the winner of the competition was minimal.

In 2009, Ukraine sent Svetlana Loboda to conquer Eurovision. The singer's musical number with energetic dances to the sounds of drums received 76 points and 12th place.

The 10th place was brought to Ukraine at the competition in Oslo by the singer Alyosha in 2010. The artist performed the song "Sweet people" which became a call for the preservation of the environment.

The gentle song "Angel" by Miki Newton at Eurovision 2011 took fourth place.

Fifteenth in the music ranking of 2012 was the song "Be My Guest". The spectacular track was performed by the singer Gaitana.

The third on the podium was Ukraine in 2013. Zlata Ognevich received 214 points and bronze for her performance of the song "Gravity,". Five countries rated the performance of the Ukrainian woman at 12 points.

In 2014, Maria Yaremchuk represented the country. The judges rated the performance of the participant at 113 points, which allowed Ukraine to become the sixth.

In connection with the war in the eastern part of the country and the annexation of Crimea in 2015, Ukraine decided not to take part in the competition.

2016 was marked by the second victory of Ukraine at Eurovision. Jamala conquered the audience with the song "1944." In it, the singer spoke about the fate of the Crimean Tatars during the forced deportation. The artist received 534 points for her performance.

In 2017, during the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, the rock band O.Torvald became a contender from Ukraine. Despite the spectacular number and the original song, the group ended up in 24th place.

The singer Melovin participated in the competition, held in Lisbon. The performance of the artist was filled with various special effects and was accompanied by a fire show. The track Under The Ladder entered the top twenty (17th place).

In 2019, Ukraine did not take part in the event. This was due to the scandal surrounding the winner of the national selection. Singer Maruv did not want to sign a contract with the National TV and Radio Company of Ukraine. It was also suggested that the performer plans to tour Russia.

The folk group Go-A was supposed to represent the country in 2020. But the global pandemic prevented the competition from being held in the Netherlands. It was moved to next year.

In 2021, Go-A achieved the best of results (5th place) after the triumphant victory of Jamala. From the audience, the song received 267 points, from the jury - 97.

2022 has become a victorious year for Ukraine. 25 countries competed for victory in the final of the competition in Turin. But the Kalush Orchestra received the maximum number of points. The song "Stefania", which harmoniously combines folk, rap and ethnic motives, made an indelible impression on European audiences who are accustomed to more traditional musical directions.
