Collectors, beware! In the Kherson region, the invaders set their sights on private collections

Museums and private collections should be replenished and please the eyes of their owners. However, today in the occupied territories everything is happening exactly the opposite. This situation acquires special symbolism on International Museum Day. Shouldn't it be otherwise?

Starting from May 12, 2022, on the territory of the Kherson region, the Russian military began to conduct targeted raids on the houses of local historians, collectors, antique shops, forcibly taking away everything that is of at least some artistic or historical value. This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Information about what is in the collections is provided to the occupiers by the so-called "civilian experts". This is how collaborators want to curry favor with the pseudo-authorities. They even give a preliminary assessment of the existing exhibits.

It is noted that those who conduct such raids do not look like ordinary Russian soldiers. Witnesses claim that the latter wear different clothes from them, move in off-road vehicles, but have weapons made in the Russian Federation.

The destruction and plundering of Ukrainian museums and private collections today is acquiring frightening proportions. The list of objects of historical and cultural value is growing. The appropriation of what belonged to the Ukrainians is considered a common thing for the occupiers. However, this will not go unpunished. All cases are recorded by the competent authorities, indulged in the eye in the Ukrainian and world media.

This situation acquires special symbolism on International Museum Day, when most museums open their doors, cordially showing their exhibits for free. Today, there is no need to talk about such hospitality ...
