Around the 11th century, a new settlement appeared in western Ukraine, which became the center of the salt trade. In those distant times, it was called the Solo Town, and scientists mention it as the Galician Town. On the map, this settlement, located not far from Lviv, can be found under the name Gorodok. It was first mentioned by the author of the Galicia-Volyn chronicle, when the city already played an important role in the political life of this region. In the XIV century, it was part of the possessions of Casimir III, then became part of the Kingdom of Hungary. In 1672, Gorodok was badly damaged by the Turkish army, which almost destroyed it, but a hundred years later it again experienced its heyday. The Germans settled in the district, who formed their own community and opened their own school.
Although Lviv attracts the most tourists in this area, Gorodok also boasts interesting and beautiful places. The main monument of nature is the 12-hectare Park of the 18th century, on the territory of which there are unique archaeological sites. As for architectural monuments, you can visit the churches of the 16th-20th centuries, see the old bell tower and the mill. How the life of Gorodok looked like almost a century ago, in the 1930s, can be seen in the
