Embroidery for Americans: Lviv residents collect embroidered shirts for a charity auction
Vyshyvankas and clothes with Ukrainian symbols are collected in Lviv to organize a charity auction. The main goal of the project is to raise funds to help the brave Ukrainian military.
The initiative to create an auction belongs to a Ukrainian emigrant. Tatyana lived in New York for 18 years, but after the outbreak of the war she returned to her homeland and became a volunteer.
After information about the auction appeared on social networks, caring people began to massively bring iconic symbols of Ukrainian life: embroidered dresses, shirts, towels and tablecloths. In a short time (only a few days), the volunteers received more than 70 products, the variety of which is amazing. They differ in unique style, ornament and fabric texture. Among the copies provided, there are both modern models and vintage ones.
According to the woman, the Americans are interested in everything connected with Ukraine. They want to touch Ukrainian history, learn more about it. And one of the best ways to do this is to become the owner of an embroidered shirt or another element of the traditional Ukrainian costume.
The sale of the collected things will take place in America. Tatyana plans to organize an event where artists from Ukraine will perform and dishes from Ukrainian cuisine will be presented.
