In our last article, we talked about a coin of 100 francs minted by the Principality of Monaco of Monaco . Today we will present an equally interesting coin of a neighbor (and in many historical periods, the overlord of the princes of Monaco). This is 40 lire of the kingdom of Sardinia, ruled by the House of Savoy. The kingdom included the modern territories of France, Savoy and Nice, Piedmont, Liguria and the island of Sardinia. The Kingdom of Sardinia was also part of the Latin Monetary Union, so the weight of the coin and the gold content are equivalent to 40 francs or 40 liras of the Kingdom of Italy during Napoleon's time. Sardinian gold coins are very popular among both collectors and investors. Charles Felix (in Italian Carlo Felice di Savoia) ruled for 10 years from 1821 to 1831. He gained power as a result of his brother's abdication. Having suppressed popular unrest with the help of Austrian troops, Karl Felix receives the throne. After accession, he takes measures to develop industry and reform legislation. But the main trace of his reign left in the field of culture. Modern theaters were opened in Genoa and the country's capital, Turin. In addition, the first museum of Ancient Egyptian artifacts in Europe was opened in Turin. And by tradition, a link to the section Violity , where such a good coin was sold.
