The National Bank of Ukraine held a presentation of two new commemorative coins, which received the name of the Ukrainian song of the same name - "Oh, there is a red viburnum in the blue...". Numismatic novelties are part of the Immortal My Ukraine series.

The first coin with a face value of 10 hryvnias was made of silver with the “proof” minting quality category. The second one is in denomination of 5 hryvnias made of nickel silver, the minting quality category is “special uncirculated”. The circulation of new products will be up to 5 thousand pieces in the first case and up to 250 thousand pieces in the second. A fixed number of coins will be issued before the end of this year.

Both coins are decorated with the image of the military of different eras, raising and holding a symbolic tree. In its branches is a stylization of Ukraine from leaves. The words from the song of the same name were chosen as inscriptions for the obverse and reverse.

It is noted that this particular coin was chosen through a survey that was conducted from June 10 to 17, 2022.

Recall that the first version of the song “Oh, there is red viburnum near the moon ...” was written by the poet and director of the Ukrainian theater Stepan Charnetsky in 1914. The work was used during a production about Hetman Doroshenko "The Sun of the Ruin". Charnetsky was dissatisfied with the existing final song, so he used a slightly altered song "The steep banks were poured out." The last verse was left unchanged and the melody was finalized.

Nevertheless, the history of Chervona Kalini began even earlier. You can learn more about this from the article "Oh, there is red viburnum in the puddle... The story of the legendary anthem of the Sich Riflemen, which sounds new today all over the world".
