Albin Gavdzinsky was an outstanding Ukrainian master of genre painting in the 20th century. Born in 1923 in the village of Bobrik Pervy, also known as Veliky Bobrik (Odessa region). He entered the Art Academy, but a year after the start of his studies he went to the front, and during the Second World War he graduated from an aviation school in Chernihiv. In 1946 he returned to artistic activity and was educated at the Odessa Art College. The young painter received a recommendation and he had a chance to enter the Riga Academy of Arts. However, he decided to do otherwise and went to the construction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Here Gavdzinsky painted a series of paintings dedicated to the new power plant and Kakhovka. Already at an early stage of his work, the artist showed himself as a master landscape painter, trying to convey not ordinary reality, but turning everyday life into poetry. In his works, his optimism and love for the world around him are noticeable.

The first personal exhibition took place in Odessa in 1953. Since then, Gavdzinsky has repeatedly presented his paintings to the world, and after his death, the artist's work was not forgotten. The works of the landscape painter were repeatedly exhibited along with the works of other masters, one of the latest events was the exhibition "Silver Shine of Winter" in Kyiv, "The Seasons of Albin Gavdzinsky" in Odessa, etc. In 1961, the artist became an honorary citizen of New Kakhovka. Gavdzinsky, on the other hand, made an incredibly generous gift, donating more than 230 of his paintings to the city, which became the basis of a new art gallery.

Works by Gavdzinsky and other related lots have repeatedly appeared on Violity. The full-fledged completed painting in the frame "Sea off the coast of Crimea" went under the hammer for 6800 UAH in 2019. In addition to landscapes, Gavdzinsky painted portraits and created several paintings depicting other artists at work. He devoted a lot of time to urban space, namely to historical architecture.
