The 50th anniversary of Canada's victory over the USSR in hockey was marked with four commemorative coins
Is it appropriate to talk about victories now? It seems that it is always appropriate to talk about Ukraine's victory. However, we will talk about sports achievements of the past. About the victory of the Canadian hockey team over the USSR team. And about the coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to mark this.

All numismatic novelties are dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Canadian hockey team's victory over the USSR in the 1972 Super Series. Two coins are made of steel, one of silver and one of gold. The most expensive, gold coin, issued in a circulation of only 300 pieces.
Canadian artist Joel Kimmel's reverse features two hockey players representing Canada's 1972 team. The images are accompanied by the words "THE SERIES LA SÉRIE" and "50 YEARS ANS" against the background of the team's iconic maple leaf highlighted in red on the colored coin. On the outer ring, the initials of the coaches and the numbers of the players' shirts on the inner edge, symbolizing the spirit of the Canadian national team. The obverse features an image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Suzanne Blunt.

In addition to their numismatic value, these coins are also of practical use to our country. After all, the Royal Canadian Mint will transfer all profits from the sale of these collectible coins to help Ukraine.
