The image of the outstanding Ukrainian poetess, writer and translator can be found in her collections, postcards, stamps and photographs. What determines the value of this particular photo card with Lesya Ukrainka, which was presented by philatelist Volodymyr Ikonnikov to museum workers in Zhytomyr region?
This postcard was printed by the Kyiv publishing house "Mystetstvo" in 1971, with a total circulation of 60,000 copies. It depicts a 25-year-old writer, whose photograph was taken in the Kyiv studio of Henrikh Lazovsky.
It was believed that Lesya Ukrainka did not recognize this image. She believed that she was not like herself. However, it was this portrait that became the most popular among her fans. This same image was and continues to be used to decorate porcelain, artwork, money, stamps, and more.
Additional value of the portrait is added by the presence of a postmark imprint "100 years since the birth of Lesya Ukrainka 25.II.1971 p. Well". It was only valid for one day, but the postal products redeemed by it are becoming more and more popular among collectors.
By the way, this is far from the first gift of Volodymyr Ikonnikov. And the staff of the Literary Memorial Museum of Lesya Ukrainka thank him endlessly for his trust and contribution to enriching the funds.
