Personal belongings of Britain's last executioner to be auctioned off

Personal belongings of Britain's last executioner to be auctioned off
The personal belongings of killers always arouse genuine interest among people. Having recently reviewed Dmitry Zhogov's program on the Violiti channel about the collection of Bokassa's things, I was convinced of this. But here is a slightly different story. Hoods for those sentenced to death of the last executioner of Great Britain will be sold at the auction.

Albert Pierpoint was famous for having executed about 600 people in his time. And about 200 of them were Nazi criminals. The list of his “victims” includes the infamous Josef Kramer, the commandant of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, or “Belsen beast”, Irma Grese, the overseer of the Nazi death camps Ravensbrück, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen, as well as Ruth Ellis, the last hanged woman in Great Britain.
Albert Pierpoint was considered the most famous executioner in Great Britain. He gave his work for many years, following the family tradition through the male line. Pierpoint wrote about his desire to become an executioner even at school, in an essay. And, of course, it shocked the teacher and classmates. But who would have thought that once the dreams of such a terrible profession would become a reality. And bring glory.

At one time, Pierpoint was even summoned to Germany to carry out punishments for war criminals. But for the executions at the Nuremberg Trials, his place was taken by an American amateur master sergeant, John C. Woods.
And, if earlier Pierpoint's memoirs went under the hammer, this time, among other things, they will let out hoods for those condemned to death, which Pierpoint used during his 25-year career as an executioner.
