Vintage Carousels themed stamps released in Canada

Vintage Carousels themed stamps released in Canada
Canada Post presented a set of five stamps called Vintage Carousels, with the popular attraction as the main theme. The block is a simplified image of a carousel, each curved stamp has one animal: four horses and one lion. The inscriptions indicate the name of the real attractions and the places in Canada where they are located. The stamps are issued in the form of booklets (10 pieces each) and souvenir sheets (5 pieces each).
The oldest carousel shown on one of the examples was constructed by Kremer's Carousel Works in 1903 and is today located in Lakeside Park. It has 68 animals, including the lion depicted on the postage stamp. The black horse can be seen on the Bowness Carousel, built in 1904. The white horse decorated with flowers is part of the carousel, which is kept in the museum in Burnaby. The brown horse is part of a 2010 National Carousel Association award-winning carousel in Rosenet, Ontario. Another white horse entertains visitors in Montreal.
The first carousels appeared in the 18th century, they were inspired by the equestrian military game - the carousel, which replaced the jousting tournaments. The very first was built in 1780 and consisted of 12 horses and 4 chariots, dated 1896. In the 19th century, the attraction became one of the main attributes of fairs and worked due to the installed steam engine. Nowadays, there are many themed carousels with a rich history.
