A school, a street, a museum: in Vilnius, the names of civilian objects are changing not in favor of russia
Recently, the Vilnius City Council decided to rename the Pushkin Museum, giving it a new name. From now on, it will be called the Museum of the Markuchai Manor.

This decision was supported by the desire to emphasize the literature of Lithuania. Its activities, because museum staff are actively involved in research, hold exhibitions, lectures and master classes, which are specifically related to the heritage of Vilnius estates and estates of the whole of Lithuania.

The estate got its name at the beginning of the 20th century. The last owner of Varvara Pushkin called him Markuchai in her will. However, the reasons for the name of this place Markuchai are unknown to the end. It is only known that Sakalachay, Svistopol and others were among the names. And, by the way, the poet himself has never been here.

By the way, this is not the first "name change". A year ago, Kaunas Pushkin Gymnasium was also renamed. And one of the streets leading to the Russian embassy was named the street of Heroes of Ukraine.

Whether this is related to the events in our country is not known for sure. What do you think about this?
