For a long time, the French family considered their "Brueghel" to be an ordinary painting
This rare work of the artist Pieter Bruegel the Younger was found in one of the French houses. For a long time, the family did not even understand the value of what belonged to them. And, however, the canvas was in it, starting from 1900.

Later it became known that this is the work of Pieter Bruegel the Younger "The Village Lawyer" - "At the Notary", which was created in the period between 1615-1617. And the family believed that it was just a copy that decorated the house a little and was worth a trifle.

And by the way, this story probably wouldn't have gained such publicity if it weren't for its recent sale at a Belgian auction. A painting by Flemish Renaissance artist Bruegel the Younger sold for 280,000 euros ($332,000).
"The painting was in something like a storeroom next to the house, out of light and at a fairly constant temperature, so it was very well preserved," the auction reported.
