The return of an ancient Greek sculpture to Greece

The return of an ancient Greek sculpture to Greece
Recently, the world learned about the return of one of the oldest Greek sculptural works - the statue "Kore from Sicily" to Greece. This work, created in the 6th century BCE, was stolen from the museum of the island of Lipari in 1978 and was in a private collection in Switzerland.
"Kore from Sicily" is a stone statue of a female figure, almost 2 meters tall.
Its image contains elements of ancient Greek culture and mythology, such as a laurel wreath and a patterned cloak that symbolizes the connection with the goddess Athena.
The sculpture was returned to Greece thanks to the joint efforts of the governments of Switzerland and Italy, as well as the careful work of the Greek commission for the return of cultural objects. During negotiations with a private collector, an agreement was reached to buy back the statue, after which it was handed over to Greece.
The return of this sculpture has immense historical and cultural significance for Greece. It is returning to its homeland, where it will be stored and shown to the public, allowing people to see and learn more about ancient Greek culture and art.
Moreover, the return of "Kore from Sicily" became an important example of how states and collectors can work together to preserve humanity's cultural heritage.
