Archaeologists have discovered a prehistoric road at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea
"Helpers" in the discovery of the prehistoric road were satellite images, which drew the attention of researchers to the unusual features of the underwater terrain. The study of the road is still ongoing, but even now scientists believe that this road connected the ancient settlement of the Hvar culture with the now isolated island of Korcula.

The remains of a road hidden under layers of sea silt have been discovered off the southern coast of Croatia. They have been protected from strong waves for thousands of years. The passage, which was about four meters wide, was built from carefully stacked stone slabs.
According to researchers, representatives of the Hvar Neolithic culture, which once existed in the eastern Adriatic, built the now flooded settlement of Soline and the ancient passage that connected the islands.

In addition to satellite imagery, which marked the beginning of the study of these underwater areas, scientists have concentrated on radiocarbon analysis of the preserved wood. As a result, it was found that the entire settlement dates back to about 4900 BC.
