The birth of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the paintings of Albin Gavdzinsky

The birth of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the paintings of Albin Gavdzinsky
For more than a year, the threat of destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station hung. And here again, Russia once again dealt a vile blow, destroying the power plant. It will take a lot of time to deal with the catastrophic consequences of this atrocity. And even though the current hydroelectric power station cannot be restored, after the victory, new modern projects will certainly be implemented.
The Kakhovka HPP was built in the 1950s, at the same time the city of Novaya Kakhovka was founded, where the builders and workers of the power plant lived. This event was dedicated to a series of paintings by the Ukrainian landscape painter Albin Gavdzinsky. The artist was born in the village of Bobrik Pervy (Odessa region), graduated from the Odessa Art College, and immediately after completing his studies went to New Kakhovka.
In 1961, Gavdzinsky was awarded the title of honorary citizen of New Kakhovka. Almost all of his works, and these are more than 230 paintings, the artist handed over to the city, where they were stored before a full-scale invasion. Unfortunately, the Art Gallery. Albina Gavdzinsky, like many other museums in Ukraine, was looted last year. The invaders took out all the paintings, and one can only hope that they will not be sold to private collections. Each painting is marked with an inventory number, and these works cannot be officially put up for auction, otherwise they will immediately have to be withdrawn and returned to Ukraine.
