Toys of the “Vatutinsky” plant: from tricycles to clockwork elevators

Toys of the “Vatutinsky” plant: from tricycles to clockwork elevators
A child's life begins with familiarity with a toy. A toy that has been worked on by many craftsmen in the past. Starting with the artist, the designer-technologist and a huge number of workers. Probably, this machine, created at the Kiev Mechanical Toy Plant named after N.F. Vatutin.
Toys created at the "Vatutino" factory were popular not only among children. It was an example of the work of the national level - they were shown at the All-Union and Republican exhibitions-competitions, fairs, exhibitions of achievements of the national economy and took the best places. Many of the new products, which at that time were distinguished by modern forms and interesting game effects, were awarded state distinctions.
"Vatutinsky" plant stood out among similar toy enterprises with a special history and products known far beyond the borders of the former Soviet Union. The basis of the enterprise was the captured equipment of the German factory. Some of the machines already at that time could be safely classified as museum exhibits, because they were created at the end of the 19th century. However, this technique was reliable, having worked for about a century.
Until the early 1950s, the factory produced tin toys and children's bicycles. However, these products were replaced by mechanical toys. Suffice it to recall the clockwork model of the elevator - a miniature plant where bulk materials were moved on a conveyor. Or a smaller copy of a river ferry plying between plastic banks.
The plant's product list included clockwork bulldozers, spaceships, delivery vans, and armored cars. Cars occupied a special place - the iconic "Victory", bought on Violity, or a luxurious pink "Cadillac" in rock and roll style.
By the end of the 1980s, the "Vatutinsky" plant was already producing more than 500 items of products for children. However, with the beginning of the 90s, these Kyiv toys no longer had a future. After all, the old "military" enterprise was forced to survive in the face of fierce import competition.
Expand your collection of toys with the help of the “Toys. Games. Video Games" of the Violity website.
