Elvis Presley's Revolver: A $200,000 Artifact

Elvis Presley's Revolver: A $200,000 Artifact
Rock Island Auctions features a Smith & Wesson revolver decorated by master engraver Russell Smith that was personally delivered to Elvis Presley just months before his death in August 1977.
The sale of the gun caused quite a stir among collectors and fans of the "King of Rock" and ended with a bid of $199,750 - more than double the opening estimate.
Rock Island Auction President Kevin Hogan said, "The collectibles market is experiencing unprecedented growth across multiple genres. When you combine two of those genres - Elvis artifacts and collectible firearms, the result is tremendous excitement and high prices at auction."
Known as "The King" of the firearms world, this revolver was an integral part of Elvis Presley's collection. Exquisitely decorated by master engraver Russell Smith, it embodies not only the highest standards of gun engraving art, but also forever retains its connection to a rock 'n' roll legend.
