"Gifts of Saint Nicholas": Ukrposhta introduced a new charitable postage stamp
The national operator of postal communication "Ukrposhta" presented a new philatelic product - the postage stamp "Gifts of Saint Nicholas". The proceeds from the sale will be used to support the Armed Forces.

The author of the design was the famous Ukrainian illustrator Kostya Lavro, who managed to visualize two significant holidays for Ukrainians — Saint Nicholas Day and Armed Forces Day of Ukraine. This stamp became not only an object of philately, but also a real Christmas gift. The image of St. Nicholas, who prepared the gifts, becomes a symbol of justice. Each detail on the stamp has its own meaning.

The artist managed to preserve the traditionally childish image of St. Nicholas as a kind grandfather-magician, supplementing it with relevant details. For example, Nicholas does not fly through the sky on a sleigh, but rides on a Cossack horse. Behind his shoulders is a camouflage bag filled with military equipment, which is absolutely necessary for the Ukrainian army to win.

The postage stamp symbolically depicts the victory over the enemy: under the horse's hooves, the symbol of Russia is crushed - a double-headed eagle, which Nikolai pierces with a stick, as if with a spear.

The postage stamp circulation is 600,000 copies. A "First Day" envelope and an art card became a traditional addition.

"Ukrposhta" continues to demonstrate its readiness to combine tradition with modernity. On the one hand, we see the classic image of Saint Nicholas that has passed through the ages; on the other hand, the connection with modern Ukraine, which needs protection and help.

The philatelic novelty will not only decorate postal items, but also transport us to the world of joyful holiday experiences.
