Collector's Legacy: Digitized Images from the Getty Museum in the Public Domain

Collector's Legacy: Digitized Images from the Getty Museum in the Public Domain
Are you familiar with the Getty Museum? This is the legacy of the businessman and collector Jean Paul Getty, who was firmly convinced of the civilizing influence of art on society. Therefore, it is not surprising that he decided to bequeath his multibillion-dollar fortune to the benefit of the museum.

The presence of such impressive funds made it possible to acquire antiques, masterpieces of painting, sculpture, as well as other objects that could carry collection value.
As for the photography department, it was founded relatively recently. About 30 years ago. And its formation took place due to the ongoing program of financial support of philanthropists.

In August 2013, the management of the museum decided that the pictures from the collection should belong to the society. Therefore, I posted digital copies of photos for free.

The list of works that were in the museum's collection included photographs by Eugene Atget, Peter Henry Emerson, Alfred Stieglitz, Alphonse Maria Mucha, Shinichi Suzuki and many other representatives of photography. In his photographs, the master contains a wide variety of subjects - world attractions, pupils of educational institutions, street vendors.
Users of the Violity website also have the opportunity to enjoy photography. Moreover, they can replenish their collections with these pictures. Indeed, in the section "Photos" collected more than 46 thousand lots.
