The Bespectacled Wizard and the Reigning Monarchs - a coin dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the publication of the book about the Philosopher's Stone
This event, for sure, was waiting for all fans of Harry Potter. Indeed, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the publication of a book about the philosopher's stone by the writer J.K. Rowling. It seems to me that one should have expected some kind of set of wands, a magical cloak or glasses, and here is a coin. Very unexpected.

It was decided to issue a coin at the Royal Mint. This is just very expected, why not celebrate such a significant event at the state level. The obverse of the coin is decorated with the image of a young wizard, and the reverse is, of course, the profile of the British monarch. Here is an image of Queen Elizabeth II.
I also want to say that the author of the design was the artist Jim Kay, who worked on the illustration of the first edition of J.K. Rowling. For sure, in his practice this is the first time when he moves from design in books to design on coins.

And I’ll tell you a little about the price of the coin itself: 50 pennies with the face of a young wizard will cost 11 pounds. The color version is slightly more expensive at £20. But, if we are talking about coins made of precious metals, then the cost is much higher.
I would like to believe that this is not the last coin about the history of Harry Potter. After all, fans of his adventures, including me, are waiting for coins with the image of the Hogwarts Express train, Professor Albus Dumbledore and the Hogwarts school itself.

And yet, this is a coin about magicians, so there was some magic here. There is a "secret" design element: when rotated, you can see lightning and the number 25. This effect was created using a special technology that includes the use of picosecond lasers.
I wonder if someone besides me is also interested in such coins? Where do you find them? Are you ordering? I usually look for different numismatic novelties in the Numismatics section on Violity. Tell us, share your experiences.
