How to join The Beatles: Ringo Starr's letter will be sold at Christie's auction
Christie's auction house will sell a letter written by the British drummer, singer, member of The Beatles Ringo Starr. It says the musician has joined a British band.

The three-page handwritten letter bears Starr's personal signature. Dated October 31, 1962, it is one of five known letters to Doreen Walker. In the letter, the musician not only talks about joining the band, but also lists the dates of future tours and appearances on television.
"I got a call asking if I'd join The Beatles and I said yes... I'm doing really well with the new band, we've got a record out, I hope you'll buy it..." writes Starr.

The letter ends with information about upcoming performances in Manchester. About the performance in the club "Oasis" after returning from Germany. And hopes that Doreen will visit her friend.

Starr first performed as part of The Beatles on August 18, 1962. He left his band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes at the request of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The replacement was largely due to the band's displeasure with then-drummer Pete Best.

The letter is expected to sell for 30,000 to 40,000 pounds.
