The first swallows: what was Czech jewelry for Soviet fashionistas?
Czech jewelry aroused interest not only among representatives of their country. But the buyers of neighboring states with burning eyes looked at the stylish jewelry made of beads, beads and rhinestones. Brooches, earrings and necklaces from Czechoslovakia became the first signs for Soviet fashionistas, especially in the 1950s.
In 1947, Christian Dior presented a collection: wide skirts, tight-fitting blouses, no heels. The fashion trend squeezed into the Soviet space only in the second half of the 1950s. New images were complemented by glass and plastic beads, bright button clips.
Towards the end of the 1950s, Soviet stores began to fill up with Czech glass. Against this background, the world of Czech jewelry opened up before the women of the USSR. Brooches and beads made of imitation pomegranates enjoyed great success. Also, fashionistas fell in love with products made of transparent faceted glass of different colors. An example of its use is the "Spider" brooch, bought on Violity.
It is known that jewelers from Czechoslovakia produced similar brooches and beads long before the 1950s. Therefore, the exact dating of such products without hallmarks is very complicated. However, some reference points for jewelry can serve as their reverse side. It is darker on earlier models and brightly gilded on brooches from the 1950s and 1970s.
Brooches and clips complemented massive beads in several rows with wide openwork locks or hooks. Such headsets were so popular that they were sometimes worn over coats.
Jewelry from Czechoslovakia was imported to the USSR in huge quantities. However, the unthinkable variety of shapes and colors made it rare to meet two women in identical jewelry side by side. Confirmation of this is a subsection of the Violity website "Jewellery".
