The fabulous world of toys of the Munich Museum

The fabulous world of toys of the Munich Museum
This museum "froze" me by accident. My child and I were walking along the still unfamiliar Marienplatz square in the center of Munich, when suddenly the little one pulled me towards an arch with a poster. There were a bunch of photos of toys from past years on the poster. Of course, at the request of the child, we went to conquer this small toy tower.

In the tower of the Old Town Hall, on four floors of the museum, the family collection of toys of the Czech writer Ivan Steiger is presented, which includes exhibits not only from Germany, but also from other countries of Europe and America.

In these small halls, we encountered many toys from the past. It was so unusual to see them. Products made of wood, paper, metal. Mechanical equipment, dolls, soft toys, tin soldiers, robots. The last toys stopped my boy for a long time, because he does not spend a day without these toys. And then a whole story unfolded before him...
This museum houses a collection from the archives of Hausser-Elastolin, one of the largest manufacturers of children's goods in Germany. These are small toy wooden houses, and nearby are farms with stables, a zoo with exotic and wild animals, figurines of villagers and townspeople, foresters, soldiers of the two world wars, Indians, hunters, and even inhabitants of Mars.
I was pleasantly surprised by the collection of dolls, from porcelain to all the famous Barbies. There are about a hundred Barbie dolls here, including the legendary No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 with a milky body and a 21-piece outfit from 1959.

Connoisseurs of railways will not miss various trains with electric and steam drive, entire warehouses, semaphores, bridges, lifting cranes, figurines of station workers and passengers. In addition, models of air transport, airships, airplanes, cars, kaleidoscopes, educational games and much more.

I advise you, if you have such an opportunity, to definitely visit this museum. I'm sure you won't regret it.
