Opening of a new volunteer project "Odessa and Nikolaev together!" coincided with the special cancellation of new postage stamps at the main post office in Odessa. Limited editions are dedicated to Ukraine's struggle against Russian occupation.
These were two postage stamps - “Saint Nicholas defends Nikolaev” and “New history of Europe. The Serpent's Island is the Temple of Achilles".
The author of the plot of the first stamp is Yuri Zhuravel. The stamp was issued by volunteer organizations to raise money to support the residents of Nikolaev. This is the second brand, the proceeds from the sale of which will go to help the people of Nikolaev. The first postage stamp “Assol is not the same anymore” was a stunning success not only among Odessa residents, but also among other residents of the country.
According to the head of the Odessa Directorate of Ukrposhta, Sergei Drozd, Nikolaev will now save not only Odessa, but the whole of Ukraine. This city is bombarded daily and it takes the strongest blow.
The author of the second stamp was Vladimir Lensky, an illustrator from Odessa. His work is about the defense of Snake Island and the heroic confrontation of the Ukrainian military. This brand was not created by chance. Even at the beginning of the war, a friend of the author of the sketch of the stamp told a story about the island of Achilles and the temple created on it.
The director of the Odessa "Ukrposhta" after the solemn cancellation of the stamps added that these are not the last stamps dedicated to the resistance of Ukrainians to the Russian occupation. Therefore, philatelists are in anticipation of new products.
