4 Ducats of 1912. Austria-Hungary

The last period of prosperity and development of the Austrian, and since 1867 the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is associated with the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I (1830 - 1916). He ruled the empire from 1848 to 1916. Having ascended the throne in the year of the revolution of 1848 and having defended it with the help of the troops of tsarist Russia, he died in 1916, participating in the First World War on the side of Russia's opponents. During his reign, he waged wars with the rebellious Hungary, France and the Kingdom of Sardinia, Denmark, Prussia, unsuccessfully helped his brother Maximilian get the crown of Mexico, which ended in the death of the latter, annexed Bosnia. The only son and heir committed suicide, his wife was killed by a terrorist. In the annexed Bosnia in 1914, the heir to the throne, Franz Ferdinand, was killed, which led to the outbreak of the 1st World War and the death of the empire. Nevertheless, the era of the emperor's reign became an era of progress, the development of industry, science, culture, and the growth of the educational level of the peoples of the empire. Unlike Tsarist Russia, the Ukrainian language was supported and developed in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
