New assumptions of archaeologists from the UAE: what made it possible to understand the largest "jug" of the Iron Age?
Researchers from the United Arab Emirates during recent excavations managed to find a ceramic vessel that put them in a difficult position. Still, this is the largest ancient "jug" of those that they have seen in the country.

The find was so huge that the building, the place of the find, was built specifically for this vessel. However, due to the size and location, scientists have not yet been able to establish the true purpose of the "jug". The dimensions are really impressive: height - 155 cm, case diameter - 141 cm, top diameter - 94 cm.

Confirm the assumption that the structure was built specifically for a ceramic vessel, the features of the building. The ceiling was supported by 20 date palm columns on stone bases. More than 30 storage containers were found on the floor and in an adjacent room. Approximately the building was erected between 600 and 900 AD.

Archaeologists believe that this place was the "heart" of the settlement. Guests were welcomed here, important issues were resolved.

It is noted that the "jug" was found in parts. And only after a detailed study of the fragments, it was restored. This is an example of the outstanding expert work of archaeologists and restorers who were able to put together an ancient artifact.

Discovered ceramic "jug" sent to the Archaeological Museum of Sharjah. This find suggests that Sharjah was part of the trade route between the south of the Arabian Peninsula and Persia.
