NBU will start withdrawing banknotes of previous generations from circulation from January 2023

NBU will start withdrawing banknotes of previous generations from circulation from January 2023
The National Bank of Ukraine announced that it would begin a gradual withdrawal from circulation of paper banknotes in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 100 hryvnias of the 2003-2007 sample. They will be replaced with new ones.
You can find coins of Ukraine, medals and NBU tokens for your collections in the appropriate section of the Violity website.
We are talking about banknotes of 2003-2007. Banknotes of previous generations that they want to replace with new banknotes. Instead of them, new coins of 5 and 10 hryvnias and banknotes of 20 and 100 hryvnias will “walk”.

Representatives of the NBU explained such steps by the need to improve the quality of everyday cash. Banknotes of previous generations "worn out" due to long-term use.

In addition to this, such changes will also help to increase the protection and quality of cash, as well as make payments more convenient for citizens of the country.

Withdrawal from circulation of funds will begin from the beginning of 2023 gradually. Banks will not issue cash in these banknotes, and the National Bank, for its part, will stop supplying such banknotes to banks. It turns out that banknotes of previous generations that have fallen into banks will remain in them until they are completely withdrawn.

What does this mean for numismatists? Surely, collectors of coins and banknotes of Ukraine will pay attention to such an innovation. And they will want to keep one copy of each banknote in their collections. But to say for sure that it will be impossible. What do you think about this? Write in the comments.
