Former geography teacher Jean Guy Laquière, who lives in Canada, is the owner of the world's largest collection of souvenirs dedicated to Santa Claus. At the age of 75, the pensioner was able to collect more than 25,000 different figurines, postcards, posters, toys and other items related to the main Christmas wizard.
The history of the Canadian collector began in 1988, when he received a gift from a relative of his wife, a little Santa. The figurine was made using the papier-mâché technique in the middle of the last century. And she surprised him so much that for several days the man simply could not tear himself away from her. He carried it in his hands all the time, wherever he went. I could even look at it for hours - the technique of execution, color combinations, ways of decorating. Jean-Guy Laquière was so surprised by the possibility of creating a Christmas decoration in the past that he thought about buying something similar.
After some time, Jean-Guy Laquiere bought a few more souvenirs on this topic. Then another, and another, and another. Gradually, collecting Santa Clauses for a former geography teacher began to turn into a pleasant obsession.
In 2004, this led to him setting a world record. The Guinness Book of Records Committee officially recognized and recorded the achievement of an elderly pensioner, including his collection in the next edition. Later, already in 2010, he already broke his own record. The passionate collector had 25,104 different items related to Santa Claus.
For a Canadian collector, his collection is a matter of great pride. And after he became the record holder among Santa Claus collectors, this feeling only intensified.
