Despite the difficult political situation, in the middle of the XX century, Haiti was an attractive country for tourists. Thanks to the World Exhibition, which was held in 1949, the Haitian government was able to attract the international community to the island state. People came here to get impressions of the numerous beaches, mountains, local cuisine, art, religion. The tourism sector alternately experienced an upswing and a downturn, until the high level of violence, political struggle, and the 2010 earthquakes finally made the Republic of Haiti unattractive for travelers. It depicts the life of Haiti in the 1970s.
