The Middle East of the XIX century in the photo by Francis Frith

English photographer Francis Frith is known primarily for his photographs of the Middle East and cities of the United Kingdom. In 1835, he founded a photographic society in Liverpool, but 20 years later he sold his entire business (a cutlery company) and went to travel to Middle Eastern countries. Frith noticed that some travelers were interested in plausible photographs, documentary photography, and put this kind of art above painting. He traveled in search of original and fresh shots, and also kept a diary in which he described in detail the difficulties of his trip.
