American businessman Dell Loy Hansen bought at auction by stack's Bowers Galleries legendary coin 1894 S Barber Dime with par value of 10 cents. For silver rarity buyer gave 1 320 000 dollars, making a bet on the phone. This copy is one of the thirty most unique coins recognized by experts as masterpieces of numismatic art.
Coins of this series were issued in 1892-1916. The artist Charles Barber worked on the sketch, after whom the coin is named. Production was carried out at the mint in San Francisco.
In the past Barber Dime 1894 S belonged to Jerry Buss, the owner of the basketball club Los Angeles Lakers. Now the world can not find more than a dozen of these 10-cent coins minted in 1894.
