The restoration of the century-old stained glass window that adorns the Armenian Cathedral has been underway for several weeks. The stained glass window depicting St. Paul was created by the Polish artist Jan Henrik Rosen, known for his sacred paintings and frescoes. Maria Shumskaya-Periwinkle is working on the restoration of the work, noting that this is one of the most difficult orders.

The stained glass is made according to medieval technology, when not colored glass was used, but a colorless material covered with paint. Therefore, during the restoration process, it is necessary to eliminate the previous layer of paint, without using chemical reagents that can damage the surface. The next step after cleaning the stained glass will be to make the entire object tight.

Until the early 2000s, the stained glass was considered lost, until it was discovered in disassembled form. During the following years, the find served as a window. However, due to insufficient tightness, moisture began to get into the room through the stained glass window during the rains, which led to some frescoes getting wet. When the stained glass window is re-installed in the same place, a protective glass will be added to it.
