Not far from Jelling, a small Danish town located on the Jutland peninsula, an ancient treasure has been discovered, hidden even before the advent of the Viking Age. The treasure includes 22 gold items that belong to different places and time periods. Some products contain runic inscriptions and contain images referring to Norse mythology. Others are associated with the Roman Empire, for example, the solidus of Constantine I. The total weight of the find is about one kilogram. However, the value of the treasure lies not so much in the volume, but in the unique symbols that will help you learn more details about the peoples who inhabited Denmark in those distant times.

The results of the initial study showed that the treasure could serve as an offering to the gods in a turbulent time, when a strong cold snap occurred in Europe in 535-536. Probably, the reason for the climate change was the decrease in the transparency of the atmosphere after the eruption of several volcanoes. The Byzantine historian Procopius of Caesarea wrote about the cataclysm, noting in the History of Wars that during the year the heat from the sun did not arrive in the proper amount, as if the luminary had lost its power.
