"Glory to Ukraine": Estonia will issue an exclusive coin in support of Ukraine
"Glory to Ukraine" sounds now in all corners of the world. It is a phrase that motivates, inspires and identifies citizenship. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the slogan has become a real mainstream, supported by the Bank of Estonia.
So, the issue of a new coin with the inscription “Glory to Ukraine” was announced by Mart Laar, who serves as the chairman of the board at the Bank of Estonia. The denomination of the coin dedicated to Ukraine will be 2 euros.
The Ukrainian girl Daria Titova worked on the development of the design of the product. The student was evacuated from Kharkov because of the war and entered the Estonian Academy of Arts to study. Ivar Sakk, professor of the academy, also took part in the implementation of the patriotic idea.
In addition to the phrase “Glory to Ukraine”, the coin will have an image of a girl with a spike of wheat and a bird in her hand, symbolizing tenderness and courage. The appearance of the coin has already been approved by the Central Bank. The next stage is the approval of the idea by the EU countries.
According to preliminary forecasts, the coin will go into circulation in the second half of this year. But already this summer the world will see collectible coin sets, the total number of which will be more than 40 thousand copies. The Central Bank of Estonia announced that the proceeds from the sale of the coin will be transferred to the National Bank of Ukraine.
