In the English city of Leeds (Yorkshire), the staff of the central library decided to take advantage of the absence of visitors during the quarantine and examine the shelves with books that specialists had not touched for years. More than 3 thousand books were studied and cataloged, among them a unique Bible was found. Its peculiarity is its tiny dimensions, namely 4.8x3.3 cm. The edition is a copy of the larger Bible of 1539, and was printed in 1911. It contains the texts of the Old and New Testaments, set out on paper made in India, for a total of 876 pages. The original large Bible of 1539 was published by order of one of the founders of Anglicanism, Thomas Cromwell. In accordance with the issued directive, the churches were to have books with the texts of the Holy Scriptures in places accessible to the parishioners so that they could read them at any time. To prevent the Bibles from being stolen, they were chained to a certain place.

The origin of this little book, like some of the library's other rarities, remains a mystery. The management of the institution plans to provide access to them, and a magnifying glass will be prepared for reading the Bible. In particular, readers will also be able to get acquainted with a literary forgery - Edward Lloyd's novel "Oliver Twiss", which can be safely called a pirated copy of the real "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens. Charles Dickens sued Lloyd because of this and other forgeries, as inattentive buyers often purchased fakes. You can always find interesting old books on Violity.
