Numismatic artifacts of the Habsburg Empire are one of the most valued by collectors in many countries. Coins of the Holy Roman Empire, Austrian and Austro-Hungarian empires are actively collected. The coins of the first Austrian Republic are less known, but there are some very interesting examples among them. And one of these coins is 100 crowns of 1923, minted from 900 gold, weighing 33.8753 grams. 

The First Republic of Austria emerged as a result of the defeat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the First World War. On November 12, 1918, the monarchy was abolished and a republic proclaimed. It included the territories of the Austro-Hungarian Empire inhabited by Germans - the capital of the country, Vienna, Upper and Lower Austria, Carinthia, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg. Burgenland. Initially, stamped banknotes of Austria-Hungary were in circulation, since 1922, banknotes in Austrian kroner were issued into circulation. For international payments, gold coins were issued in denominations of 20 and 100 crowns. In 1925, the Austrian krone was replaced by the Austrian schilling. A gold coin with a face value of 100 crowns was minted in 1923-1924.
