Already sold: Kandinsky's painting went under the hammer at an auction in London for $45 million
Recently, the mass media has just reported that the painting by Wassily Kandinsky "View of Murnau with the Church II" will be sold, as information has already appeared about the final price paid for it in London. It was purchased for 37.2 million pounds, almost 45 million dollars, which became a new price record for the works of Kandinsky.

Let us recall that the painting had a notorious history. It was written in 1910 and was part of a series of landscapes that the artist made in Germany in the city of Murnau. Kandinsky lived there for some time.

After writing, the artist's work was purchased by a Jewish couple - Siegbert and Johanna Margaret Stern. And so it happened that this landscape was forcibly removed by the Nazis, and the Sterns became victims of the Holocaust.

For a long time, the heirs of this couple tried first to find and then to return "View of Murnau with Church II". And only in 2022, Kandinsky's masterpiece was transferred to the Stern family.

A recent auction in London broke the record for previous sales - in 2017, Kandinsky's work was sold for almost 42 million dollars. It was "Painting with White Lines", which the artist painted in 1913.
