A previously unknown painting by a prominent artist, a representative of abstract impressionism Jackson Pollock, was found during a search. It was a specially planned operation aimed at detecting smuggled cultural values in Sofia.
The result of the operation was the discovery, among other things, of a previously unknown painting by the artist Jackson Pollock, which was previously estimated at $54,000.
According to the statement of the Bulgarian authorities, the picture was written as early as 1949, but it did not make it into any album. Other details have not yet been announced.
Experts have managed to locate and preserve this painting, and it has now been established that it is an original. This information was provided by Petar Todorov, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria.
Pollock was part of the Abstract Expressionist art movement of the late 1940s. His radical approach to painting, known as the "drip art" method, involved pouring, dripping and sprinkling paint on top of his works. It is believed that Pollock is one of those who paved the way for modern art.
