Bonhams Skinner's auction on April 5, 2023 at 7:00 PM EDT will sell a Dutch oak veneer and inlaid musical clock made by Jan Christian Sauer in Amsterdam circa 1765. Transferred from the collection of the historically significant Goddard family of Providence, Rhode Island, estimated at $20,000-$30,000.

The watch has excellent build quality and a rare design. Their body is made of oak veneer with inlay of multi-colored trees. The dial is decorated with gold elements and framed with stucco. The watch is mechanical, has scales and a play of eight days.
The Goddard Collection is of historical significance to the state of Rhode Island and the United States in general. The Goddard family was known for its influence on politics and culture in the region in the 18th century. The watch was purchased by the Goddard family in the 19th century and remained in their collection for many years.

Now this piece of history will be sold at auction and will find its new owner. This will be a great opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs of antiques to purchase a unique example of a watch with a huge history.
