Superman's First Step: The Value of Iconic Action Comics#1

Superman's First Step: The Value of Iconic Action Comics#1
In 1938, many teenagers could afford to buy Action Comics No. 1 for 10 cents. But who could have imagined that in a few decades this comic would become a real "Holy Grail" for collectors?

The cover of the first issue of Action Comics featured the Superman, the symbol of justice and power we know and love, for the first time.
But this story was only the beginning of the Golden Age of comics.
Only nine copies of Action Comics #1 have survived in the world today, and each of them is a valuable rarity. One of them was found embedded in the wall of a house in Minnesota, which makes this specimen even more unique.

An important factor that affects the cost of rare comics is their rarity and safety. In the case of Action Comics #1, eight of the nine surviving units are in private collections and their owners do not plan to sell them in the near future.

Another factor that can increase the value of a rare comic book is its history. It was this issue of Action Comics that first introduced Superman to the world. But the story we know is not fully revealed in the first issue. Superman's alien origin is mentioned for the first time, but his adopted Kent family and home planet Krypton were only discovered later.

And finally, the cost of a rare comic book can vary greatly if its former owner was a celebrity. One copy of Action Comics #1 belonged to actor and comic book collector Nicolas Cage, but the comic was stolen in 2000.
A few years later, it was discovered and sold at auction for $3.2 million.
