Ukrainian archaeologists discovered an artifact with the image of John the Baptist
Ukrainian archaeologists managed to find an object that roughly dates back to the times of Kyivan Rus. The artifact was found during the excavations of the "Apostolshchyna" tract, which were implemented as part of the project "New construction of the educational building and shelter of the Oleksandr Tsinkalovsky Lyceum on 20 July Street, 21, in the city of Volodymyr."

According to archaeologists, this is a customs seal dating back to the period of Kyivan Rus, approximately XI-XII centuries. On the front side of the seal there is an iconographic image of St. John the Baptist, on the reverse side there is a flourished cross.
It was also noted that the attribution of the seal to a specific ruler has not been carried out today. However, research in this direction gained a new impetus.

This thing is quite miniature – only 13x10 mm in diameter. As archaeologists note, hanging seals of this type have similar iconography, however, they are much larger and more massive.

The State Enterprise "Protective Archaeological Service of Ukraine" of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Volyn National University named after Lesya Ukrainka, the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Ancient Volodymyr" and the Union of Archaeologists of Ukraine are engaged in researching the find.
