300,000-year-old traces of humans and fossils of that era - a new discovery of German paleontologists
German paleontologists from the University of Tübingen and the Senckenberg Center for Human Evolution have managed to discover the earliest traces of humans in Germany. And probably in Europe.

Scientists suggest that the footprints belong to the Heidelberg man (Homo heidelbergensis), and he left them about 300 thousand years ago.
This discovery was made during excavations carried out in a Paleolithic complex near the city of Schöningen in Lower Saxony. These were the footprints of three people and the paw prints of animals of that era, presumably elephants and rhinos. Based on the traces found, scientists can make a conclusion about the "appearance" of the Neolithic ecosystem.
If we return to human footprints, then two out of three belong to children or young people, the third to an older person. These people could live on the banks of shallow rivers and lakes. And, depending on the season, they had access to different plants.
